In true travelling style, we jetted off for a beautiful city break in the wonderful city of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark to see the new years celebrations of 2016/17. Copenhagen is a small, quaint city in northern Europe, so the temperatures a little cooler but that’s what a wonderful Christmassy break is all about isn’t it?
Where from: Luton Airport London.
Hotel: Saga Hotel Copenhagen ££/£££££. Great hotel in arguably the best location for price. Right next to the Central Train station. Easy to get around the city and easy trip to and from Copenhagen Airport.
Goal: End 2016 with a bang and start 2017 as we mean to go on.
Highlight: In all honesty, Tivoli Gardens was the best place I’ve taken in the New Year. 10x better than London and the fireworks were more engaging too. Probably because they are flying around in front of your face and all the locals knew this so were wearing goggles.
First of all… Warning… Copenhagen is an expensive city. I made a little joke that when females talk about their breaks, the conversation will be deep and sound like this:
Girlfriend: ‘How was it?’
Girl reply: ‘The city was beautiful with cobblestone streets and quaint shops. We got lost in the city and walked for hours. There were great restaurants to dine at and we just sat in a quiet bar and drank Pinot Noir until the sun came up’
Whereas the male convo for Copenhagen would look a little more like this…
ManFriend: ‘How was it?’
Guy reply: ‘Great… Expensive.. (Pause)… Was about £8.00 a pint of beer!…. [End Convo]
Copenhagen New Year in Trivoli Gardens
Copenhagen New Year in Trivoli Gardens is simply incredible.
Here’s a pint I thoroughly enjoyed in the amazing Ruby Bar in Copenhagen. £8.00 a pint story above but just bloody do it.
Best place to eat in Copenhagen for a couple
We enjoyed a few meals out whilst exploring the city but by far our favourite meal in Copenhagen was the Olive Kitchen and Bar in the city centre. There were plenty of other options but this was incredible value for the quality and beautiful setting.
